Disposition:
Dedicated: His whole character motivation revolves around his quest to bring back his people, who were more or less destroyed after a world and reality-breaking event. We don't know how long he has been working on this task, only that it has been at least 12,000 years. A multitude of plans and schemes dreamt up and initiated, trying everything that he can do bring his people back and fix what was broken. He was not above wiping out entire planets full of people, only to bring his own back. Not only that but he recreated his entire capital city out of magic and filled it with ghosts of his people, because he just could not let them go.
Loyal: This ties in to the previous trait, but on a more personal level. It is shown that Emet-Selch is incredibly loyal to those he cares about. While he may complain about his friends and the trouble they get up to, or the frustrations they cause him, when called for aid he answered every single time without question. It is due to the fact that the main character, his main enemy, resembles one of his former best friends so much that he attempts to get along with them and place faith in them.
Emotional: To put it bluntly, he is dramatic. When we first meet him as a character he is fond of over-the-top patterns of speech and body language, rather like he is acting in a play, even when the other characters are having a serious moment. On the other hand, he will sigh and mope, and complain if he is bored. He acts as though he is just wasting the time away but the undertones of more serious emotions and his burdens are always there. When we get to see him again during Endwalker as his younger self, we see that he is living that "tsundere" attitude to the extreme- complaining, insulting, moaning about everything asked of him, yet he will go ahead and do it anyway.
Intelligent: When you live for practically forever, you are bound to gain knowledge and Emet-Selch had that even before his journey. He is knowledgeable on the workings of souls and the lifestream, and of aether/magic in general, at least in his canon. He will be intrigued to discover how the gems and manna work in this environment. He will at times share his knowledge and teach people about various subjects but it honestly is dependent upon his demeanor at the time and relationship with the person.
Leader: As a final note, he does have leadership skills. Whether he wants to use them or not is another matter, but they are there. Not only did he have a leading role in the grand plan to fix his world, but over the centuries he also built up several empires from the ground up and led them on great conquests over other nations- proving that not only did he have the brains to plan and scheme for it but he also had the leadership skills and charisma to make people want to follow him.
Condition upon arrival: Post-death/summoning? Since his canon point is not a death per-se but rather him deciding to literally nope himself out of existence again, I figured that would simply not happen and he would arrive in Noctium still 'alive' and with a physical form.
Abilities:
Soul Sight: Emet-selch can 'see' the souls of people, including what colour they are. This also includes their aether which is his worlds equivalent of manna. This extends to the souls of those dead or gone if they are still hovering around, but since this game does not have the "life-stream" of his home world, no plucking souls and resurrecting people!
Teleportation: Emet-Selch can open up a portal into the void and teleport at will. In-game he will no longer be able to use it to travel great distances (say, between cities/locations) and obviously cannot travel between worlds with it.
Combat: He has the ability to summon two weapons for combat, which are added to his inventory. He is known to be a powerful mage who can use various elemental or dark-aspected magic spells, and could summon a barrier to protect himself.
Transformation: He has the ability to transform if fighting a particularly hard foe, but he will not use it in-game unless maybe an event purpose comes up. This is because he find it embarrassing and says it is akin to being naked.
Creation Magic: The main ability of Ancients was their creation magic- to literally create anything out of thin air. This has been used in a variety of ways from creating a bunch of flowers to 'creating' an entire city. Obviously the latter will not happen here. I am fine with a limit such as keeping them to items of a reasonable size, nothing living, and it will drain his manna to do so. His magic reserves are said to be near-bottomless in his canon but will have a hard cap here- not that he intends to be using it a lot. He's lazy.
Body Possession: As an Ascian (a group of Ancients) Emet-Selch had no physical form and needed to posses a body in order to have one. Personally he only used it when the body being used was killed, but wont have access to that skill in-game. Plus, I am apping him post death when he had his own form back.
Inventory:
The black robes and red mask were the only physical items he had on him.
He has an armiger-type ability to summon his weapons out of thin air- one greatsword and one mage staff.
Gembond: Ruby
Gem Location: Middle of the chest, over the heart.
