He probably will teach him in the end and they both know it, it's almost as if he likes having things to complain about. Once he has the details he is certain he will be able to think of a way or two to enhance it. Maybe add a second enchantment to it. We'll see.

"I can see quite clearly what held your interest." Some headers have nothing but a word or two followed by details, but a few- like the one used here- are much more detailed. Better yet the notes are written from their perspective and how they themselves use magic, which already makes it far easier to comprehend.
Silently engrossed in the notebook he rolls on to his side to face Hythlodaeus after a few minutes, a look of satisfaction as he clicks his fingers and the spell fades away. Much better to take the time and work out how to undo it, rather than forcefully break it.
"Made for novices I assume. Quite easy to unravel once you know what it is you are looking for."
