He is confident in his own abilities and while they are limited here, he still believes that it would take anyone, even Hythlodaeus, considerable effort to break free if he were serious about it.
He can see where this conversation is going though, as he moves the notebook to one hand and settles the other around his lover's waist. In honesty his own mind was already there after reading the notes- for two specific reasons. One being the use of magical binds themselves while the other pertains to a little detail added within the spell.
"You know if I did it, you wouldn't be able to break free. I'd make sure of it." The words are practically purred out as he leans his head in closer, fairly certain the words would be considered a promise rather than a deterrent.
